

The third Leicester City Cricket Academy colours clothing tournament proved a great success. More than 230 boys and girls took part in the event at Leicester Grammar School. Houghton-on-the-Hill won the under-11 trophy, the City Cricket Academy-Grammar School squad took the under-13 section and the Academy Warriors were top in the under-16s. The Academy Steelbacks won the under nine event which was played with eight a side. Six teams competed in each of the four age groups with a girls line up fourth in the under-11s.

The most improved player for City Cricket Academy during 2009 award was awarded to Ben Coddington.
The spirit of cricket award was given to Team Narborough and Littlethorpe
An outstanding achievement award was given to City Cricket Academy's Sonia Odedra for being selected to play for the England Academy Women's team
This year an under 9’s age group competition was also introduced which was 8 a side and winners were City Cricket Academy Steel backs.

The tournament which was held at Leicester grammar school from 17th to 21st of august was educational and enjoyable for all involved.
It was a real spectacle of cricket played over 5 days where kids could play like their heroes in coloured clothing and white balls .The standard of cricket was fantastic and it was amazing to see so many talented boys and girls playing cricket.
