Colour Clothing Tournament 2017

The Colour Clothing Tournament which is in its 11th year saw some exciting cricket over 3 weeks. The tournament used to be only a week event but demand from local and international players has made us expand to 3 weeks.  The tournament was played at Leicester Grammar School and Leicester University grounds. We had 6 different age groups competing in Under 8’s, 10’s, 12’s 14’s, 16’s and 18’s playing a total of 114 matches which was a mix of T20 and 40 overs.

ICC Academy Dubai, Cricket Next Academy Pune, Merseyside teams from Liverpool and Switzerland were the visiting teams.

In the Under 16’s age group Switzerland were the surprise package.  They had some talented cricketers who performed very well and won the Under 16’s event.

This is the first time we have seen 4 centuries scored in the tournament.  Mumbai Under 16’s all-rounder Vaze Tavish, Northants Under 16’s wicket-keeper batsman Seb Smith and Dubai Under 16’s batsman Waji Zaman scored fantastic hundreds in the under 18 and 16 tournaments.

Swiss bowlers Adil Tunda, Alex Buchelli and Dayn Parioug were particularly impressive.  Swiss batsman Hemant Ganesh lead from the front and scored 336 runs in the tournament taking the best batsman award in the Under 16’s.

We are very excited to see the popularity of the event locally and abroad.
