Summer 2019 Round up

Following a busy summer for City Cricket Academy with plenty of cricket played throughout, our Under 11’s and Under 13’s returned victorious again in the League and Cup. The Under 13’s went one better and went on to win the ECB National U13’s Cup, making them the best U13’s team in the country. A very proud moment all around for the cricketers and City Cricket Academy.

Summer cricket camp was also lot of fun and it was popular amongst the juniors.

Our 13th Annual Colour Clothing Tournament saw a great deal of competition with all the teams that participated. Over 50 matches played over the course of 4 weeks with more than 250 players participated in the 5 age group tournaments hosted by City Cricket Academy. Various teams and players visited from around the world to participate in this year’s tournament, including 4 boys from Australia who participated in our U10’s Colour Clothing Tournament this year. We also saw teams from Switzerland included in our U12’s, U14’s and U16’s Tournament providing great competition as always throughout. Having teams and individuals join our tournaments has always proved to improve the standards of cricket set, with this year’s Senior Colour Clothing Tournament going to the wire with a super-over being played in the Finals to determine the winner.

City Cricket Academy also saw many Touring Teams and Individuals visit from around the world over the course of the summer. Teams from Pakistan, Dubai, Switzerland and India visited to Tour or to participate in our Colour Clothing Tournament. The Residential Program extended its reach to new countries and new possibilities. The Residential Academy welcomed cricketers from South Africa, Guyana, West Indies , Canada, New Zealand, Kenya, USA and many more to name just a few. With cricketers from various backgrounds it gave us great pleasure to see the cricketers get on extremely well on and off the field. Residential Cricketers had the opportunity to play a minimum of 3 to 4 matches a week alongside educational training sessions, 1to1’s, yoga sessions, strength and conditioning and much more.

Having cricketers from around the Globe has had benefit to our young players. Lots of matches were organised where our youngsters played with or against the visiting players which meant that we could give plenty of match playing opportunity to everyone. Visiting players were allowed to join our coaching sessions to make it a great learning exercise for all.

Overall, a fantastic summer unfolded with a great amount of cricket played throughout. We saw many friends being made that we hope will leave everlasting impressions for the future. Not only did cricketers learn a lot from the cricket offered but were exposed to different surroundings, backgrounds and cultures which we hope has provided them with many experiences to cherish.

Finally, we would like to thank all players, teams, parents and anyone who supported us throughout the summer in making this a successful 2019 for City Cricket Academy.
