Leicestershire Youth League Weekly Report

Friday 03rd May 2019

Not the greatest conditions for a cricket match, however all under 11 teams braved the cold, wind and rain and provided a fantastic display of cricket. A special mention to parents who supported the boys all evening.

CCA/HTCC Under 11’s A vs Kibworth U11’s B

A home encounter against a strong team to start the season, and the under 11’s did not disappoint. Batting first Anugrah Ajay, 35 Runs, and Zethan Bandi, 28 Runs, set the bar high for the start of the season.  Freddie Fowler playing his first game for CCA chipped in with 3 massive sixes to propel the team score to 155 in their 16 overs. An emphatic display of batting by the whole team, all of which scoring 15 runs plus. In return Kibworth were restricted well by ruthless display of bowling. Kibworth set 74 runs to from their 16 overs with standout bowling performances by Aryan Singh (2-0-11-1), Rahul Khoda (2-0-13-0) and Krish Patel (2-0-14-0) all playing their first ever competitive match.  In response, Dian Manga (11), and Kishen Parmar (13) worked tirelessly to chase the score however, Kibworth put on a jubilant bowling display that took the game away from CCA winning by 62 runs.

Sunday 05th June 2019

CCA/HTCC Under 13’s A vs Enderby U13’s

A cup match to start proceedings for the U13’s, electing to bat first Anish Das (26*), Kavir Mackan (25*) and Darius Fanibanda (25*) all began where they left off at the end of last year, putting on an exuberant performance to set Enderby a total of 194, losing only 2 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.  The total had been set but only half the job completed, with a professional bowling effort required. Taking the limelight Oliver Dunford stepped up and produced a special bowling performance with figures of 5 overs, 2 maidens, 2 runs and 5 wickets helping bowl Enderby out for 18 Runs. A special mention to: Zubin Bandi who showed great knowledge of the game as a Captain, and led the team well on and off the field.

CCA/HTCC Under 13’s B vs Billesdon U13’s

An enticing encounter against a strong Billesdon team saw the U13’s batting first. Arav Sharma (19) set the tone however thanks to a blistering 33 off 11 balls by Aditiya Ishwaran helped propel the score to 119 for 9 off 20 overs. A respectable total set with a strong bowling performance required to ensure victory. Rahul Acharya (3-1-6-3), Woody Stepien-Hales (2-1-3-3)  and once again Aditiya Ishwaran (4-1-9-4) took the match away from Billesdon with the help of Alex Hancock who took 2 camera worthy diving catches and prevented the ball from passing him all morning. CCA U13’s eventually beating Billesdon by 77 runs to claim the first victory of the season.

Tuesday 07th May 2019 - Rhino Cup

CCA Kings vs CCA Capitals

Both teams entered today wanting to ensure a positive start to the tournament. Kings and Capitals took stage on the first day of the 2019 Rhino Cup. The Capitals winning the toss and electing to bowl on an early season green surface. A wise choice as the Kings were restricted to 89 all out from 18 overs, held together by ever present Keshav Sthanakiya (29). Bilal Jussab showing how the game can be influenced in the field, by providing a direct hit from the deep, running out a key member of the Kings batting team. Going into the half way stage, neither team was sure whether this was a commendable total or not. A special mention to Ridhi Sindhal playing her first match bowled an eloquent 2 overs conceding only the 1 run for CCA Kings supported by Giaan Rupra (3-0-12-3) who had their say as CCA Kings ripped through the Capitals top order. However, a persistent innings by Kavir Mackan (25*) ensured the Capitals crossed the line winning the first contest of the competition by 2 wickets.
